President Obama has decided to leave the campaign trail behind to meet with top Congressional leaders – John Boehner, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell – on Friday. In other words, he's known that these cuts were coming for 16 months and has decided to meet after the deadline passes. Is this what is considered governing or leading in Washington?
When Senate Republicans proposed the idea of letting President Panic himself have “flexibility” to make decisions about these cuts, suddenly Obama is concerned about taking unilateral executive action. He says, “you can't do things by yourself.” Convenient.
That still hasn't stopped the Democrat PR campaign from moving forward. An email from the Democrat National Committee has now upped the ante. They have doubled the number of job losses predicted by the White House to more than a two million. Nancy Pelosi is also pushing the unemployment scare-mongering, saying in a press conference yesterday that “sequestration equals unemployment.” She then, humorously, blames the Republicans for being the ones to kick the can down the road when Republicans in her very own House have passed not one buy two bills to fix the sequester.
Of all people, it is Bob Woodward who is calling the President's actions “a kind of madness.” He said that in response to Obama's decision not to deploy an aircraft carrier because of looming budget cuts. He says, “Under the Constitution, the president is commander-in-chief and employs the force. And so we now have the president going out because of this piece of paper and this agreement, I can’t do what I need to do to protect the country. That’s a kind of madness that I haven’t seen in a long time.”
That leads to the absurdity of the Obama administration's decision to start releasing detained illegal aliens. With an ICE budget of $5.7 billion, apparently there is absolutely no happy medium between the current levels of spending and freeing illegal aliens. Does that not seem absolutely absurd? This is nothing more than a PR ploy to yet again scare the American people into demanding that the Republicans cave and increase taxes in order to save us from illegal aliens roaming free on our streets.
As I pointed out yesterday, Democrats fear that the worst thing that could happen is that these cuts go into effect on Friday and everyone survives without so much as a blip on their daily radar. Based on Obama's planned meeting on Friday, it seems as though these cuts are inevitable.
