America's direction divided

What has happened in America where the satisfaction level of our fellow citizens is largely divided based on party lines? According to a Gallup poll released this week, 47% of Democrats say they are satisfied with the direction of the country, while only 9% of Republicans say the same. Overall, just 27% of Americans are satisfied with the direction of the country, which amazingly is an increase from December and January.

The disparity between Democrats and Republicans is astounding. What accounts for this difference? Are Democrats living in a fantasy land versus Republicans living in the real world where 12 million Americans are unemployed? Are Democrats projecting their happiness based on what they think Obama is going to do for them, versus Republicans who see Obama as destroying the country and the values they cherish? Are Republicans more likely to be the producers in society, and are therefore more in tune with the realities of our economic situation?

We need a leader who can lead America, not just a party or an ideology.
