Considering this president's predilection for unilateral action and his desperate desire to salvage his greatest achievement, it should come as no surprise that the administration is considering another extension for individual insurance policy holders.
“The Obama administration is considering an extension of the president's decision to let people keep their individual insurance policies even if they are not compliant with the health care overhaul, industry and government officials said Thursday.
Avalere Health CEO Dan Mendelson said Thursday that the administration may let policyholders keep that coverage for as long as an additional three years, stressing that no decision has been made. Policymakers are waiting to see what rate hikes health insurers plan for the insurance exchanges that are key to the overhaul's coverage expansions.”
It's 2014, so an additional three years would conveniently put us after the 2016 election! Unbelievable.
Also note the last line that basically says: costs are going to increase. So much for that promise of ObamaCare saving families $2,500 a year.
So we have the possibility of Barack Obama, yet again, using his new-found power within the Constitution to unilaterally change laws.
Then we have the issue of ObamaCare costing Americans a lot more money, and it's only going to get worse as insurance companies try to compensate for the fact that young, healthy people aren't signing up as the administration promised.
Then we get the CBO which estimates that 31 million non-elderly Americans will be without insurance in 2024. There goes the idea that ObamaCare will increase coverage.
We have the CBO's report that ObamaCare will shrink the future labor force by the equivalent of over 2 million full-time jobs, and that will result in less economic growth.
Millions of Americans who currently receive healthcare benefits through their employer are about to be shocked. According to a new survey by Duke University, 44 percent of top companies in America say that they are considering reducing employee health benefits because of Obamacare. Also 40 percent of these companies say they are considering shifting workers to part-time, hiring fewer workers in the future, or simply firing current employees. Yet delusional Democrats like Charlie Rangel are still peddling this idea that ObamaCare is going to create millions of jobs in the future, as he told Breitbart's Kerry Picket.
That leads us to today's outrage.
Bloomberg reports that jails in at least six states are enrolling inmates in ObamaCare (many under its expansion of Medicaid) in order to shift costs from the state to the federal government. This would shift at least $6.5 billion to the federal government, and therefore all U.S. taxpayers. States claim to be doing this because prisoners with health coverage would be more likely to seek help for issues once released, therefore reducing the chances of them ending up back in jail.
So millions of hard-working Americans will lose their current coverage or be forced to purchase outrageously expensive new plans, yet prisoners are actively being enrolled into ObamaCare and the costs will be paid for by the very society these prisoners harmed as a result of whatever crime put them in jail in the first place. Unbelievable.
With stories like this, and the CBO report released this week, even people like NBC's David Gregory report that Democrats facing mid-term reelection don't want to even fight (much less win) on the issue of ObamaCare because “it's too hard.” Guess what? It's also too hard for the millions of Americans and businesses that are suffering as a result of the law.
