Could you imagine what businesses in America could accomplish if Washington would just get out of the way?
While it is true that Congress passed fewer laws last year, that isn't the whole story. Each law comes with endless rules and regulations that are written by faceless bureaucrats in Washington.
The Daily Caller cites a report from the Competitive Enterprise Institute which found that, “With every new law passed last year there were an average of 56 rules and regulations to go with it … Federal agencies managed to attach a total of 3,659 rules and regulations to the new pieces of legislation.”
It's no wonder that small businesses cite federal rules and regulations among their top concerns for 2014.
Businesses spend about $2 trillion every year complying with federal laws and regulations. What if that money weren't spent on red tape but as a productive part of the economy?
