We have an update in the IRS scandal.
Lois Lerner, who infamously plead the Fifth in a Congressional hearing months ago, sent an email in 2011 saying, “Tea Party Matter very dangerous.” She also says that these applications could end up being the “vehicle to go to court.”
In another email from 2012, Lerner admits that mistakes in handling Tea Party applications were made. She wrote, “It is what it is. Although the original story isn’t as pretty as we’d like, once we learned [that we were] off track, we have done what we can to change the process, better educate our staff and move the cases. So, we will get dinged, but we took steps before the ‘dinging’ to make things better and we have written procedures.”
In other words, despite telling Congress that the IRS was not targeting specific groups, Lerner acknowledges in these emails that this was, in fact, the case.
