Labor force participation

We have reached a record low labor force participation rate. In October the rate dropped to 62.8%, which is the lowest rate we've experiences in 35 years since the days of Jimmy Carter.

To put this into context, the labor force participation rate was 65.7% when Obama was inaugurated in January 2009. This means that an astounding 11 million Americans have dropped out of the labor force and stopped looking for work during the Obama recovery.

For African Americans who overwhelming supported the president, their labor force participation rate is at a 31 year low, dropping to just 60.7%. That's the lowest it's been since 1982.

Women participating in the labor force also hit a new low rate of 56.9%. In just one month, 357,000 women left the labor force from September to October of this year.

These numbers are just astounding and do not bode well for economic growth and recovery.
