McDonalds, Franchisees To Hire Up To 50,000

McDonald's Corp. (MCD) said the company and its franchisees are looking to hire as many as 50,000 people at U.S. restaurants during an April 19 hiring event.
The fast-food giant said the event will seek to add a combination of full- and part-time positions in close to 14,000 restaurants. The move comes as McDonald's has continued to outpace its rivals, aided by an increasingly diverse menu that ranges from value items to higher-margin offerings such as blended ice drinks, as well as renovated stores and longer hours of operations.
Many companies have been reluctant to invest in their businesses with moves such as hiring, despite corporate profits largely rebounding. McDonald's has 1.7 million employees worldwide.
