According to the Washington Post, Barack Obama is gearing up for a trip to Africa later this month. But that's not the headline. The headline is this: The trip is expected to cost American taxpayers $60 to $100 million.
$100 million for a presidential trip to Africa, while school children are turned away from tours at the White House because we cannot afford to pay for them??
Something doesn't add up here. When the president travels, I absolutely recognize the need to keep him safe with security, but $100 million seems like an awful lot to spend on a president who preaches about the need for shared sacrifice.
Speaking of shared sacrifice, the First Lady is currently in Ireland for the G-8 summit and according to Irish press reports, she is staying in the Princess Grace suite of Dublin’s Five-Star Shelbourne Hotel, which costs you – the taxpayers – $3,300-per-night.
This is just another instance of the lavish lifestyle of the Obama's on display.
