While many families have forgone their summer vacations due to the failed Obama recovery, that isn't stopping the president from planning a lavish vacation for himself and his family. I'm fine with presidents taking vacations, but Obama seems to take things to the next level.
In August, it is reported that Obama will be staying at a $7.6 million resort home in Martha's Vineyard – the playground for the rich and famous. He'll head there in August after giving a series of speeches on the inequality plaguing America and the need to support the middle class. The juxtaposition is laughable.
While I absolutely want the president to be protected, his staff has booked over 75 rooms for this trip at the Welsley Hotel in Oak Bluffs. The going rate for rooms is between $225 and $345 per night.
You'd think it would be hard to sympathize with the plight of the middle class when you are living like a king.
