MSNBC is no stranger to outrageous comments, but something happened yesterday that went above its usual, liberal rhetoric. MSNBC host Martin Bashir suggested that talking about the IRS is a coded, derogatory term to oppose Barack Obama because he's black. Here are some of the more outrageous highlights from Bashir's rant:
“The IRS is being used in exactly the same way as they tried to use the president’s birth certificate.”
“Republicans are using [the IRS] as their latest weapon in the war against the black man in the White House.”
“Now, you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is, blacks get hurt worse than whites … 'We want to cut this,' is much more abstract than even the busing thing and a hell of a lot more abstract than 'N***er, n***er.'”
“So, this afternoon, we welcome the latest phrase in the lexicon of Republican attacks on this president – the IRS. Three letters that sound so innocent, but we know what you mean.”
Is this what passes for political analysis nowadays? The race card is getting so old that I doubt people even take it seriously anymore. This one seems like quite the stretch, even for liberals on MSNBC.
