The Obama administration managed to throw out two ridiculous claims yesterday related to ObamaCare. This just shows how desperate they are to sell this boondoggle to the American people. It also shows that they are relying on the ignorance of the American people who will not know any better and therefore fail to call them out on it.
Well we are going to call them out on it.
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is no stranger to controversy. She was one of the Obama administration officials found to have a secret email account that was shielded from FOIA requests. She was also accused of essentially “shaking down” private companies, demanding that they help pay for the implementation of ObamaCare. Anyway, in a speech she gave to the NAACP, Sebelius actually compared opponents of ObamaCare to those who once opposed civil rights legislation. She said, in part:
"The Affordable Care Act is the most powerful law for reducing health disparities since Medicare and Medicaid were created in 1965, the same year the Voting Rights Act was also enacted … "The same arguments against change, the same fear and misinformation that opponents used then are the same ones opponents are spreading now. 'This won’t work,' 'Slow down,' 'Let’s wait,' they say … "But history shows that upholding our founding principles demands continuous work toward a more perfect union...And it requires the kind of work that the NAACP has done for more than a century to move us forward. You showed it in the fight against lynching and the fight for desegregation. You showed it by ensuring inalienable rights are secured in the courtroom and at the ballot box. And you showed it by supporting a health law 100 years in the making.”
Did you catch this part: “The same arguments against change, the same fear and misinformation that opponents used then are the same ones opponents are spreading now. 'This won’t work,' 'Slow down,' 'Let’s wait,' they say.” Outrageous that she would compare opponents of civil rights to those of us who see the disaster that is ObamaCare for the train wreck that it truly is.
The only people who are still delusional enough to see ObamaCare as a success are members of the Obama administration, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and the New York Times.
Yesterday Jay Carney came out with the ridiculously ignorant statement that "The data reflects that there is no support for the proposition that businesses are not hiring full-time employees because of the Affordable Care Act." Perhaps before his press briefing he should have read the piece I put on Hannity.com yesterday, pointing to this exact fact that businesses are shifting to part-time workers because of ObamaCare! Or he could have looked at the news yesterday and read this sobering fact from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce: "Small businesses expect the requirement to negatively impact their employees. Twenty-seven percent say they will cut hours to reduce full time employees, 24 percent will reduce hiring, and 23 percent plan to replace full time employees with part-time workers to avoid triggering the mandate.” In other words, 74% of small businesses plan to change the status of their workers because of ObamaCare.
But don't worry, the Obama administration has the New York Times to help spin the narrative. Today on the front page of the New York Times they have a completely false story which claims that because of ObamaCare, individuals shopping for health coverage will see prices “at least 50 percent lower on average than those currently available in New York.” That's simply wrong. But don't expect the mainstream media to give you the truth. They have an agenda and an obligation to spin for this administration.
