Predictable Ryan Budget Reaction

Washington is becoming entirely too predictable. Yesterday afternoon I told you that it was only a matter of time before Democrats had Paul Ryan pushing granny off a cliff. It didn't take but a few hours for that to happen. We played the political ad last night on Hannity of, sure enough, Paul Ryan pushing granny over a cliff. Again.

Are Americans going to buy this demagoguery too? Paul Ryan put forward a serious plan to actually balance our budget within 10 years, which is a plan that still increases spending! The only difference is that Paul Ryan's plan slows the rate of spending growth compared to our current track. We are still going to be spending more money, yet the Democrat demagoguery brigade was out in full-force yesterday.

Democrat Rep. Steve Israel calls it “Republican March Madness.” He labels it a “tripling down on a radical plan that demands seniors pay more for Medicare instead of ending tax breaks for corporate special interests and Big Oil companies."

Democrat Rep. Chris Van Hollen calls the plan “totally uncompromising.” He also referred to Ryan's plan as a “hoax.”

Last night on Hannity, Juan Williams said that Ryan's plan would “literally throws Grandma and the kids over the cliff.”

Those in the media like Ezra Klein labeled Ryan's plan “social engineering with a side of deficit reduction.”

The list goes on and on. The point is that the Ryan budget is a serious proposal to serious problems facing this nation. The scary part is that there is a growing number of people in this country, particularly Democrats who are in positions of power, who fail to acknowledge these problems. Steny Hoyer, Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama – All of these Democrats don't seem to think that we have a spending problem in this country. This is absurd. In fact, Barack Obama told George Stephanopoulos, “We don’t have an immediate crisis in terms of debt. In fact, for the next ten years, it’s gonna be in a sustainable place.” Our debt is going to top $17 trillion by the end of this fiscal year, and Barack Obama's plan is to continue adding to that debt. By the end of his second term, he will have racked up more debt than all previous presidents combined. He is adding to the crisis and has zero plan on how to prevent it from destroying this nation. This is an immediate problem because soon we will reach a threshold, a point in which there is no return in our slide towards Europe.
