Yesterday on the Senate floor, Democratic Senator Harry Reid took the doom-and-gloom sequester scare tactics to a new low. While Americans were mourning the loss of, now, eight Marines killed in a training exercise in Nevada, Harry Reid took to the floor of the Senate to imply that accidents such as this would happen as a result of sequestration budget cuts.
Since yesterday's remarks, Senator Reid's office felt it necessary to issue this statement:
"In the wake of the Hawthorne tragedy, Senator Reid's thoughts are with the Marines who were killed or injured and their loved ones. The idea that Senator Reid thinks the Hawthorne tragedy has anything to do with the sequester is absurd and unsubstantiated by his remarks on the top. Marines would not be forced to operate under unsafe conditions due to budget cuts."
You can be the judge as to whether it is “absurd” and “unsubstantiated” to believe that Reid's comments implied that sequestration budget cuts could cause similar training accidents. It seems pretty obvious to me and I found Reid's comments downright despicable. But this is what we've come to know now from Democrats like Harry Reid and Barack Obama who will stop at nothing to push these apocalyptic, doom-and-gloom scenarios as a result of sequestration. Their demagoguery knows no bounds.
Oh and by the way, as of this morning Harry Reid's controversial comments had received scant coverage from the lapdog Obama-mania media.
