Terror in London

Yesterday there was a terrorist attack in London, perpetrated by radical Islamists. Two Muslim terrorists used a machete and a cleaver to kill a UK soldier wearing a Help for Heroes T-shirt in broad daylight in the streets of a busy neighborhood. Witnesses say the attackers shouted "Allahu Akbar" during the attack. Afterwards, in a disturbing video, one of the attackers had this to say: "We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you. The only reason we have done this is because Muslims are dying every day. This British soldier is an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.” He goes on to apologize to the women who witnessed the attack and says, “but in our land our women have to see the same. You people will never be safe. Remove your government, they don't care about you."

A brave woman by the name of Ingrid Loyau-Kennett got off her bus to check on the soldier lying in the street. She then did her best to calm the attackers and delay them until police could arrive. During that time, the radical Islamist killers apparently told her that they wanted to “start a war in London.” Officers eventually arrived, shooting the two suspects who were then taken to the hospital.

According to the UK Sun, the man ranting in the video has been identified as 28 year old Michael Adebolaj, who converted to Islam in 2003 and has since been radicalized. He has been tied to radical preachers Anjem Choudary and Omar Bakri.

There is no doubt that this was a terrorist attack, meant to incite panic and fear. Just take a look at the covers of the various papers in the UK; They are chilling. In Western societies, such as the UK or the US, we are a nation of laws where taking the law into your own hands and eye for an eye killings are obviously inexcusable. It's not supposed to happen. But that doesn't matter to terrorists who are determined to kill infidels and ignore our laws, all for the purposes of spreading a message.

Prime Minister David Cameron was immediately forthcoming in stating that there were strong indications that this was an act of terrorism. He has also said, “This country will be absolutely resolute in its stand against violent extremism and terror. We will never give in to terror or terrorism in any of its forms.” Imagine the head of a nation calling something terrorism … I am not sure that the same thing would have happened if this horrific killing had taken place in the United States. Take, for example, the Obama administration's insistence on labeling the Fort Hood shooting as “work place violence.” The shooter – with known ties to radical Islamists – shouted “Allahu Akbar” while killing 13 American soldiers and injuring 32 more. Yet this politically correct administration refuses to call that what it was: An act of terrorism perpetrated by a radical jihadist. This administration's reluctance to call things what they are and accurately identify the enemy limits our ability to fight and defend our nation and our soldiers.

Also, one more note to point out is the fact that one of the killers supposedly had a pistol on him. Meanwhile, average UK citizens are unable to properly protect and defend themselves in the face of violence. I wonder if this soldier could have lived if he had the means with which to protect himself.
