Thoughts on Boston

Our thoughts and prayers remain with the victims, the injured and all those affected by the bombings in Boston yesterday. Three people are now dead and 176 people were injured in the twin blasts that took place near the finish line along the Boston marathon route.

While many questions remain unclear, what is clear is that this was a cowardly act of terrorism meant to inflict maximum pain. We know this for a number of reasons including the timing of the different detonations and the materials used, including shrapnel and ball bearings. It's sad and unbelievable that sick and twisted people continue to exist in this world and seek to hurt innocent people and instill fear in our society. But America's darkest hours always end up shining light on our perseverance, and the good in humanity outshines the evil. Yesterday's heroic actions on the part of many, in the face of such horror, are a testament to that spirit.
