In 2008, military veterans Mike Focareto and Chris Blindheim attended the Giants v. Patriots Super Bowl in Phoenix, AZ. Knowing some of the servicemen in the color guard performing at the game, they were disappointed to learn that the soldiers were not given tickets to the event, even though they saw plenty of vacant seats around them.
That is how the Veteran’s Ticket Foundation (Vet Tix) was born.
Today, Veteran’s Ticket Foundation serves active duty and retired military and their families by providing them with free tickets to sporting events, concerts and shows. Past tickets donated to veterans include teams like the Yankee, Jets, Islanders, Diamondbacks, and Angels. The organization has partnered with the NBA, MLB , NHL and NFL. In 2013, over 200,000 tickets have been donated to our soldiers through Vet Tix. They also have a special program called “Hero’s Wish,” where military members and families who meet certain criteria can make specific requests for events or trips they wish to attend. Vet Tix submits these wishes to their supporters in order to fulfill these requests.
Some current Hero’s Wishes include wishes from an active duty service member in Afghanistan who returns at the end of November. His wish is to see the Denver Broncos game on December 8th, 2013 with his wife and two young children. Another wish comes from an active duty single father who would like to take his three young sons to Disney Land either before or after his next deployment.
If you are an organization or individual with tickets that will be going unused this season, if you would like to make a cash donation, or if you are active duty or retired military looking to catch a game or concert, visit Vettix.org to learn more.
A BIG THANK YOU
From all of us here at Team Hannity, we want to extend a big "thank you" to all members of our military; those active duty and retired. We love, appreciate and respect you. Your sacrifices will never go unnoticed. We will not forget. Happy Veteran's Day.
