Senator Schumer told Trump before his inauguration that the intel community was out to get him, cautioning the President-elect to avoid a fight with the deep-state and that “they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you.”

Schumer's warning came after Donald Trump made national headlines, harshly criticizing outgoing CIA chief John Brennan in a series of tweets.

"Outgoing CIA Chief, John Brennan, blasts Pres-Elect Trump on Russia threat. Does not fully understand." Oh really, couldn't do much worse - just look at Syria (red line), Crimea, Ukraine and the build-up of Russian nukes. Not good! Was this the leaker of Fake News?” wrote Trump.

Speaking with Rachel Maddow in early January, the New York Senator warned then President-elect Trump to avoid a fight with the CIA and other intelligence agencies, adding they could always strike back.

"Let me tell you: You take on the intelligence community they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you," Schumer told Maddow. "So, even for a practical supposedly hard-nosed businessman, he's being really dumb to do this."
