The Huffington Post deleted a story early Thursday titled, “Impeachment is No Longer Enough; Donald Trump Must Face Justice,” which called for President Trump to be tried for treason and “executed under the law.”

The hate-filled article, written by contributor Jason Fuller and initially published over the weekend, pleads with US officials to charge President Trump and other top officials with treason; primarily for colluding with Russians to sway the 2016 general election, imposing a travel ban on Muslims entering the United States, and obstructing justice by firing FBI director James Comey.

“Impeachment and removal from office are only the first steps; for America to be redeemed, Donald Trump but be prosecuted for treason and –if convicted in a court of law- executed,” says Fuller.

“Draining the swamp means not only ejecting Trump from the presidency, but also bringing himself and everyone assisting in his agenda up on charges of treason,” the article states. “They must be convicted […] they must all be executed under the law. Anything less than capital punishment — or at least life imprisonment without parole in a maximum security detention facility — would send yet another message to the world that America has lost its moral compass.”

The vicious story was taken down following Wednesday’s deadly mass shooting at a GOP baseball practice that left one congressman critically injured and several wounded. The alleged shooter has been identified as James Hodgkinson, and was reportedly a Bernie Sanders volunteer and Trump-hating activist.

According to the suspects brother, Hodgkinson relocated from Illinois to Washington, DC to “protest” the Trump administration.
