Embattled House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi shocked audience members in New York City over the weekend when she went on a bizarre, meandering rant over her father, pageants, parades, Instagram, healthcare, and nursing homes.
The former Speaker of the House was speaking at the 92nd Street Y when she suddenly went off script; stuttering, stopping mid-sentence, and ultimately staring blankly at the packed auditorium as she veered from one topic to the next.
The rant began when Pelosi unexpectedly brought up her father, saying, “He was part of a group called the Berkson Group and they did rallies and pageants and parades… and, um, and I stood up on the floor of Congress and I stand here as a representative of the, um, members of the Jewish army, I mean this is really way out there.”
The Minority leader then pivoted to her leadership role in the democratic party, mentioning the various social media platforms she uses to empower her base.
“Now we are building and validating what really is the message that I think can go forth,” she added. “For us we have to make sure that our members, participate in that […] At least go to Facebook, twitter, whatever, Instagram, any platform that you want.”
Finally, Nancy turned towards the new GOP healthcare legislation, bizarrely stating that “seniors in nursing homes are getting care at home,” and how that will impact “what families can do for their children.”
“Middle income seniors in nursing homes are getting care at home. It will have a tremendous impact on what families can do for their children in relationship to what they need to do,” said Pelosi.
