In a cosmic twist of irony, it's being reported that the new emails that led the Federal Bureau of Investigation to reopen it investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email server came from a device owned by Anthony Weiner.

Yup. That Anthony Weiner.

The New York Times reports:

Federal law enforcement officials said Friday that the new emails uncovered in the closed investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server were discovered after the F.B.I. seized electronic devices belonging to Huma Abedin, an aide to Mrs. Clinton, and her husband, Anthony Weiner.

The devices had been seized as part of an investigation into Anthony Weiner's sending of illicit text messages to a 15-year old girl.

On Friday it was reported that the FBI had reopened its investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email server.

FBI Director James Comey informed the Chairmen of several congressional committees of the reopening of the investigation in a letter:

The FBI's announcement comes after Director Comey decided not to recommend indictment in July.

Trump Campaign manager Kellyanne Conway acknowledged the news shortly after it broke:

The Clinton campaign has not yet offered comment.

No word yet on what specifically is contained in the emails that prompted the FBI to reopen the case.
