Attorney General Sessions believes the deadly MS-13 street gang should be labeled a ‘terrorist organization’ by the US State Department, and vowed to ‘devastate’ the group responsible for the deaths of countless Americans throughout the country.
Speaking with Fox News, Sessions was asked if the Latin American-based gang should be added to the State Department’s list of terror groups.
“I think so, perhaps. I believe it could qualify for that," said the Attorney General. "There are rules that I guess the State Department does to establish that."
Several Latin American and South American countries, such as El Salvador, have already labeled the gang as terrorists.
“We can devastate this gang. We’re going after them," Sessions added. "We’re not going to allow them to take over a block, a corner of our communities and terrorize people with this violence.”
MS-13, also known as Mara Salvatrucha, are renowned for their brutal methods and strict loyalty from its gang members. According to government estimates, there are more than 30,000 members of MS-13 worldwide and 10,000 members currently in the United States; many of them here illegally.
