Musician Kid Rock is leading incumbent Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow by four percent in a new poll released Monday, shocking political commentators and raising eyebrows over the prospects of Senator Kid Rock winning his 2018 bid and heading to the nation’s capital.
The poll, conducted by Delphi Analytica, shows the “American Bad A**” singer leading Sen. Stabenow in a hypothetical head-to head match-up.
Voters were asked to choose between Kid Rock, born Bob Ritchie, and incumbent Senator Stabenow. Rock currently leads the liberal senator by a margin of 30% to 26%, with 44% of likely voters “undecided.”
Texas Governor Greg Abbott could barely contain his excitement on twitter, writing "IT'S HAPPENING! New poll has Kid Rock leading Debbie Stabenow. THIS will shake up Washington."
Stabenow currently serves as the Democratic Senator of Michigan, and would face Kid Rock should he defeat a crowded field for the 2018 Republican primaries.
Kid Rock announced his Senate bid earlier this month, dismissing critics who said the move was a publicity stunt or a hoax. The musician released a statement slamming his democratic opponent, saying “hardworking Americans” were tired of “politicians like her” and have had enough “with their bulls***!”
