President Trump held high-level meetings with senior military officials at the White House on Thursday night, cryptically warning reporters that the evening “may” represent the “calm before the storm.”

The President was hosting the military brass and their spouses during a White House reception when he made the ominous warning, asking reporters, “You guys know what this represents?”

“Maybe it’s the calm before the storm,” said the President.

“What’s the storm?” asked the press pool.

“You’ll see, we have the world’s greatest military people in this room,” said the President. “We’re going to have a great evening.”

The “storm” may refer to a host of international crises facing the Trump administration, including North Korea’s nuclear missile program or the Iranian nuclear deal.

President Trump is expected to announce next week that he will “de-certify” the Iranian nuclear accord; effectively ending the deal struck by former President Barack Obama that aimed to curtail Iran’s ability to obtain nuclear weapons.
