President Trump suggested challenging the broadcasting licenses of NBC and other “fake news” networks on Wednesday, escalating his ongoing feud with the cable outlet after they published “pure fiction” regarding comments he made about America’s nuclear arsenal.

The President called-out the network on social media, referring to a story published by NBC News that claimed President Trump requested a “tenfold” increase in the number of American nuclear missiles.

“Fake @NBCNews made up a story that I wanted a 'tenfold' increase in our U.S. nuclear arsenal. Pure fiction, made up to demean. NBC = CNN!” tweeted the President.

“With all of the Fake News coming out of NBC and the Networks, at what point is it appropriate to challenge their License? Bad for country!” he added.

The article claims the President requested the drastic increase of nuclear warheads following a meeting with his national security team, where he was presented with graphs showing the decline of US warheads since the 1960s.

“President Donald Trump said he wanted what amounted to a nearly tenfold increase in the U.S. nuclear arsenal during a gathering this past summer of the nation’s highest-ranking national security leaders, according to three officials who were in the room,” writes the author.
