A writer for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert came under fire from both liberals and conservatives Tuesday night; viciously mocking former First Lady and American icon Barbara Bush just hours after her passing.
Jen Spyra, a Colbert staffer, blasted the late wife of President George H.W. Bush on social media late Tuesday, saying “RIP Barbara Bush, the only woman who was 92 for 30 years.”

The backlash on Twitter was immediate, with Democrats and Republicans calling-out the comedian over her ill-advised words.
“Wow! That is incredibly insensitive and rude,” wrote one user.
“Why is it so difficult for a leftie to act like a human being? I think you meant to send condolences to the family&friends of Barbara Bush for the loss of their beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. There, now the next time an exemplary American dies, you know what to say,” added another.

Colbert announced Comey’s visit during the ‘Late Show’ Tuesday night, saying “I’m really excited because I just found out that on April 17th my guest sitting in that chair will be former FBI Director James Comey.”

LATE NIGHT LECTURE: Stephen Colbert Creating ANTI-TRUMP Animated Series
Late-night comedian Stephen Colbert is preparing to launch his anti-Trump animated series early next year; putting the finishing touches on ‘Cartoon President,’ a left-leaning comedy series aimed at taking down the President.
According to TV Line, the liberal host is ready to kick-off the 10-episode series on Showtime on February 11th, and will focus on the “misadventures” of President Trump and his inner-circle, including Donald Trump Jr. and White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
“The 10-episode animated series, executive-produced by Stephen Colbert and his Late Show EP Chris Licht, follows the Commander-in-Chief, his family and advisors over the course of their misadventures on a run-of-the-mill, ‘quintessentially Trumpian’ day in POTUS’ life. And ‘no one is safe, warns the cable network, adding that “key political figures from both parties and members of the media” are all fair game,” writes TV Line.
Colbert and fellow late-night comedians routinely attack President Trump, openly calling for his impeachment and railing against GOP-led initiatives, such as the Republican effort to repeal Obamacare or replace the nation’s outdated tax structure.
