Ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff confirmed Wednesday that the “rebuttal” to Devin Nunes’ bombshell FISA memo will be released this week; saying he plans to disclose the document once his office is finished “negotiating with the FBI.”
Schiff was speaking at an event in San Francisco when he told those in attendance his intent to publicly release the controversial material. The announcement comes days after the liberal lawmaker admitted his initial document was riddled with sensitive material that could put national security at risk.
“We are negotiating with the FBI, and I think we are almost done,” he told the crowd.
“There will be more than enough that will be released to the public that will show that the FBI was acting in good faith, that it had a good case to make, and probable cause to make,” he added.
Schiff’s memo made headlines last week after President Trump announced his administration decision to withhold the material, saying it revealed detailed information about the FBI’s techniques and sources.
“We need to go through that and identify that which remains classified and would implicate sources and methods or investigative interests,” Schiff admitted.
