Rule Change: Not in OUR House
Sean kicked off Thursday’s show celebrating news reported from Bloomberg News that the Senate parliamentarian ruled today that the President would have to sign a Senate health bill into law before the House and Senate can approve changes to it. What does this mean? It means that the idea of passing Obama Care in the middle of the night through backdoor tactics like reconciliation. “What everyone has to understand is that the House is trying to thwart the will of the American people,” warned Sean, “This is simply what out of control government looks like!” It’s really difficult to understand why our leaders are trying so hard to circumvent normal procedures to pass legislation that is so seemingly unpopular. Is this what Democracy is supposed to look like?
Doug Shoen and Scott Rasmussen
Sean was joined on the NewsMaker hotline by pollsters Doug Shoen and Scott Rasmussen to talk about the latest polls. “Doug, you’ve seen all the corruption associated with this bill and apparently ostensibly what they’re hoping to do is pass a rule that says the bill has already passed the Senate so they would only need to vote on changing the rule and they’d change the law,” questioned Sean. “I’d tell you this,” responded Shoen, “It is anti-democratic and it is harmful to our country.” “What they’re doing is challenging the major notion of what a constitutional government is all about,” argued Rasmussen. The Democrats are in a very difficult position because their base was energized by the notion of universal health care but the not-so-silent majority of Americans are saying they don’t want it. That’s not a good combination heading into the November elections.
Michele Bachmann: Kill The Bill
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann joined Sean to announce her “Kill the Bill” Rally which she’s scheduled for March 13th in St. Paul Minnesota where she’s encouraging people to make this Saturday the opportunity to speak out against Obama Care. “Yesterday, Congressman Cantor told us they didn’t have the votes to pass this bill,” questioned Sean, “is that true?” Congresswoman Bachmann said, “They’re eating their own right now, they even booed the White House’s presentation of health care reform today.” This is a great opportunity to put the final squash on this terrible idea.
