Oil Spill: Government’s Failure
Sean ended Tuesday’s first hour touching upon recent reports from Politico.com that President Obama is in a P.R. panic, trying to protect his pure image. Perhaps the greatest evidence yet that the Obama Administration was slow to act in the wake of what’s becoming the greatest oil spill of all-time, former federal oil spill response coordinator, Ron Gourget, told media outlets today that there was a plan in place that would have contained the oil slick but that no one was available to put it in place. “The President says that BP will be paying the bill,” argued Hannity, “But the laws cap the amount they’re responsible to $75 million which is a pittance compared to what the overall costs will be.” There’s little doubt that this disaster will be incredibly expensive but there is certainly growing doubt that it had to be this bad.
Senator John McCain: Hannity You Were Right, God Bless You!
Sean was joined on the NewsMaker hotline by Senator John McCain to discuss the latest on the Arizona immigration legislation. “70 percent of people in my state think our borders aren’t secure,” offered McCain, “we need to secure our borders and we need the National Guard there.” Hannity joined in the demand for securing the border by pressing Senator McCain on whether he’d support legislation that would allow for a pathway to citizenship for individuals who don’t respect our laws. “So do you want to say ‘Hannity you were right and I was wrong,’” laughed Hannity, “I’m enjoying this.” The reality is that Sean was really hard on Senator McCain during the 2008 election over this issue but it’s clear that Sean has gotten through to Senator McCain and now they’re on the same page that protecting our border is absolutely essential to our national security. As John McCain sa id, “Hannity, God Bless You!”
The Great One
Sean was joined by his friend, “The Great One” Mark Levin, to discuss his latest endeavor, “Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address” a book he wrote with his father, Jack Levin. “I want you to walk through and explain how one particular person caught his attention, “asked Hannity. “My father saw a veteran from the Civil War on the back of an old car in a parade and that was seared in his memory,” remembered Levin, “that inspired my father to read everything he could and teach himself about the Civil War.” Hannity closed by saying, “As an adult I got a lot out of this inspiring book but this is the single best book ever written as a teaching tool for my kids.” For more information or to pre-order the book, visit Amazon.com.
