Another $50 Billion?
Happy Labor Day! Sean’s off today but Mark Simone ably filled in to discuss the latest headlines. Today, President Obama made his Labor Day speech where he announced he’d like to spend an additional $50 billion on long-term infrastructure. As the President was making his remarks, Mark was already hot on the commentary. “You’re going to hear a lot of clichés about we’re moving in the right direction – we’re on the road- we’re this we’re that,” laughed Simone, “but he’s going to propose nothing.” Well Mark was half right; he proposed spending a lot more of your hard earned money. For more on the President's "plan" check out Fox News.

John Zogby
Mark was joined by pollster John Zogby to discuss his latest polls which shows a Democratic bloodbath. “If the election were held today the Democrats would lose the House and the Senate is in play,” announced Zogby. Zogby continued, “The Republicans aren’t beloved, they’re ratings aren’t high they’re just not the guys in power.” In Zogby’s latest poll it’s clear that voters believe Democrats will raise taxes but a majority of voters (52%) think Republicans care more about the rich and big business. Zogby said it best when he said, “How each handles important issues will decide which party wins a majority in Congress.” It seems simple but it’s a message Sean’s been preaching for months. Hopefully both parties will present a Contract with America where certain promises are written in stone. We’ll see if either party is bold enough to put their promises in writing.

Susan Estrich
Mark was joined by lawyer and political pundit Susan Estrich to discuss the latest in the news. “I’m not going to make you defend this President,” joked Simone, “because how could you?” Estrich defended saying, “The President has gotten a lot done, he’s a guy who got elected on an agenda and he’s proceeded to act on that agenda and now people are saying ‘what has he done’” It’s clear from the polls that Americans are regretting their decisions. As Sean warned, some change is just not worth having.
