What Now GOP?
Sean kicked off Thursday’s show talking about the challenges ahead for America. “The battle for America’s soul has begun,” an inspired Sean shared with his audience,” Congress has six weeks to deal with the Bush tax cuts.” Hannity continued, “I’d assume the GOP is going to submit bills that will cut spending in Washington.” He hit the nail right on the head! It’s really important that the new GOP majority in the House focus on the promises they made in their revamped Contract with America. If they can begin to live up to the commitments they made then it won’t be politics as usual in Washington. Won’t that be nice.
Doug Schoen and Pat Caddell
Doug Schoen and Pat Caddell stopped by to continue to analyze Tuesday’s election results. “You’ve both been warning the Democratic party that they’re headed too far left,” noted Hannity, “The Republicans picked up the most seats since 1938.” “Those who voted for Health Care suffered greatly,” noted Caddell, “The economy helped but the real decisive issue was Health Care.” Hannity added,” The Republicans picked up nearly 680 state legislature seats which is a record.” Schoen added, “The magnitude of this can’t be over exaggerated and the need of the party to move toward the center to accommodate the masses can’t be over emphasized.” Doug Schoen’s late October poll showing Obama’s low approval ratings was certainly foreshadowing these election results but it remains to be seen what will happen in two years and that’s why Sean says the battle for America’s soul has just begun.
Brigitte Gabriel and Mike Ghouse
Brigitte Gabriel and Mike Ghouse joined Sean again to discuss musician Cat Stevens’ latest appearance at Jon Stewart’s “Rally to Restore Sanity” whose participation bothered controversial author Salman Rushdie, the author who was the brunt of death threats by the 70’s folk singer. “The rally to restore sanity shouldn’t have someone wishing the death of an author,” noted Hannity, “doesn’t he sound like a guy who supports terrorism.” Gabriel laughingly agreed, “Zebra’s don’t change their stripes and any man who wishes to kill another man should not be a part of any rally.” For more on this story, check out Weekly Standard.
