Return of the Great Depression

Can Obama Buy Another Term?
"The Anointed One" officially launched his 2012 re-election bid yesterday with an online video { Video}. Many predict it will be the first billion dollar campaign in presidential race history. Sean found it odd that the president’s supporters did not cite anything he has actually accomplished, although Sean did agree with the nice lady that said there are a lot of things on the table that still need to be accomplished. Sean invited former Clinton adviser Dick Morris to the program to discuss the amount of money Obama will spend in his re-election campaign. Morris explained that money can’t buy everything. “Money is very important when you are running for president, when you are a new candidate and you're trying to get the nomination and you're trying to win the election. But for a president running for re-election, money is almost irrelevant. I don't think it matters whether Obama raises $100 million or $2 billion, I don't think it's goin g to increase or decrease his chances any one way or the other.” Does Obama stand a chance at re-election? Does Quran Burning Endanger War Effort?
The Quran burning by a Florida church, led by Pastor Terry Jones, sparked three days of deadly rioting in Afghanistan, poses new dangers for the U.S.-led war effort against the Taliban, U.S. Gen. David Petraeus warned. Afghan rioters, angered by reports of the Quran burning, attacked the United Nations compound in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif, killing seven foreigners, and went on a lethal rampage in the southern city of Kandahar, waving Taliban flags. The Quran burning in Florida, Petraeus said, was "hateful, extremely disrespectful and enormously intolerant." Sean spoke with Pastor Jones on the NewsMaker Hotline to discuss Petraeus’ comments and of the Quran burning. “We take no responsibility for the violence in Afghanistan,” Jones told Sean. “The people who committed these acts should be held responsible. I have said many t imes that the president and other western leaders need to stand up in a more direct way against the radical element of Islam. The radical element of Islam is not concerned about words; they’re not concerned about our president or someone else condemning their actions.” You can listen to Sean’s entire radio interview with Pastor Terry Jones by clicking here.

The Return Of The Great Depression
Sean was joined by author and columnist Vox Day in the show's final hour to talk about his book, " The Return to the Great Depression." You would think a book that tackles such a complicated issue as global economics would be a tough read, but it's actually quite the contrary. Vox Day - one of the few economics writers to predict the current worldwide financial crisis - explains why it is likely to continue. Day explained that the policies being pursued in Europe, Asia, and the United States are very similar to Japan's failed policies of the past twenty years and, therefore, doomed to similar results. Day explained to Sean that he believes the world is in the early stages of a massive economic contraction. As suggested by the title of the book, Day believes the most probable outcome of our current economic problems is a Great Depression that will be larger in scale than that of the 1930s.
