Poll Numbers Steepen Obama's Uphill Re-Election Bid
New polling data was released on President Obama’s approval rating that is certain to make his already uphill re-election battle even steeper. His overall approval rating has reached an all-time low – but that’s only the beginning. A survey released Magellan Strategies { Article} now shows that the president's support in the critical swing state of Florida stands at only 37 percent. Additionally in the president's home state, a study by the Illinois Policy Institute reveals that in the month of July, Illinois lost more jobs than any other state in the union. Sean asked former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, whether he felt Obama had a chance at rebuilding his approval rating. “Is he likely to come back? Not without changing what he believes, how he operates. You know, the fact is, class warfare kills jobs. Bureaucratic socialism kills jobs. He believes deeply in both,” Gingrich told Sean. Irene Stays Strong
Hurricane Irene is barreling toward the New York area, and will likely wallop the city and Long Island with winds of up to 50 mph and 4 to 8 inches of rain this weekend. Several weather agencies reported that Irene could be a "once-in-50-year" hurricane for the Northeast, where New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said his city was taking the storm very seriously. Chief WeatherBell.com forecaster Joe Bastardi joined Sean on the NewsMaker Hotline to discuss the storm. “The bottom line is that this storm is heading to where the atmosphere is primed to become a very powerful storm. We’re looking at the kind of storm that can produce wind gusts that are 100-120 mph all the way up to the New Jersey coast with wind gusts up to 100 mph in New York City and Philadelphia,” Bastardi predicted. Will Liberals Stop Assault on Tea Party?
The Congressional Black Caucus seems to be going after everyone these days and not even the “Anointed One” is safe from their attacks. Black leaders say they are frustrated that the president has not done more to help the black community, especially when it comes to job creation. Rep. Waters drew cheers from a crowd at a town hall held at Mt. Hermon AME Church of Miami Gardens when she said that the Tea Party “should go straight to hell!” Michelle Malkin, author of “ Culture of Corruption,” joined Sean with reaction. “It’s time for people in Waters’ district to stand up and ask her what she’s done for her members in the past thirty years. This is clearly an effort by Waters to raise the gander of the black community to distract from her own, long, ethical problems.
