Congressional leaders “postponed” their pending interview with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein Tuesday; saying the “allotted time” was inadequate for them to properly question the senior DOJ official.
“The Committees are unable to ask all questions of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein within the time allotted for tomorrow’s transcribed interview, therefore, the interview will be postponed,” said a statement from Reps. Goodlatte and Gowdy.
Congressional Republicans have been asking Rosenstein to appear before multiple committees after a New York Times report claimed the Deputy AG had planned to wear a “hidden wire” to record President Trump and use the material to oust him from office.
Rep. Gowdy confirmed Tuesday that Rosenstein “has indicated his willingness” to speak with lawmakers in “the coming weeks.”

DAY OF RECKONING: GOP Lawmakers Introduce Bill to IMPEACH ROD ROSENSTEIN
GOP legislators introduced legislation Thursday night to impeach Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein; claiming Sessions’ second-in-command was stonewalling their investigation into the ongoing Russia probe and defying Congressional subpoenas.
Rep. Mark Meadows confirmed the bill on social media, saying “I just filed a resolution with @Jim_Jordan and several colleagues to impeach Rod Rosenstein. The DOJ has continued to hide information from Congress and repeatedly obstructed oversight–even defying multiple Congressional subpoenas. We have had enough.”

“The impeachment articles come as evidence continues to mount regarding the Department of Justice’s problematic decision making during the 2016 campaign and conduct surrounding the transition to President Trump’s administration in 2017,” the statement read.
“For 9 months we’ve warned them consequences were coming, and for 9 months we’ve heard the same excuses backed up by the same unacceptable conduct. Time is up and the consequences are here. It’s time to find a new Deputy Attorney General who is serious about accountability and transparency,” added the statement.

DOJ DISASTER: GOP Rep. Says SESSIONS, ROSENSTEIN ‘In Contempt’
Rep. Mark Meadows believes Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein “should be held in contempt” over their efforts to stonewall the House Intelligence Committee’s Russia probe.
The GOP legislator was speaking with reporters Wednesday when he was asked to weigh-in on the President’s rocky relationship with Rosenstein, adding, “It’s members of Congress who have a bigger problem with Rod Rosenstein.”
“He is not giving us the documents, and he is not doing his job… If he is not going to do the job, he needs to go and find one that he will do, and so the frustration with the AG and the deputy AG is probably more of a focus of Congress, and it probably makes the president’s dissatisfaction pale in comparison,” said Meadows.
“They have not complied with the subpoena. They should be held in contempt if they can’t get it right,” he added.
