NO THANKS: NFL Ticket Sales PLUMMET as Angry Fans Walk Away

posted by Hannity Staff - 9.29.17

The National Football League received some more bad news on Friday, with new data showing this week’s ticket sales dropping nearly 20%; a stunning number sure to raise alarm bells with NFL owners and officials across the country.

According to online ticket agency TickPick, ticket sales for NFL games were down approximately 17.9% from last week’s total; raising serious concerns that player protests are beginning to hurt NFL teams on the field and in their pockets.

“We have seen a massive decrease in NFL ticket purchases this past week in comparison to years past. Week 3 seems to usually have less ticket orders than week 2, but this year ticket purchases are down more than 7 percent from this time last year,” said TickPick’s Jack Slingland.

“While we can’t specify if this decrease is due to the president’s comments, player and owner protests, play on the field, or simply the continued division of consumer’s media attention, the conversation around the NFL this week has focused on the president’s comments as well as the players’ and owners’ reaction. As viewers continue to abandon their NFL Sunday habits, both the number of ticket sales and the purchase price of tickets will drop,” he added.

The NFL is at the center of a nationwide firestorm after hundreds of players decided to kneel or “sit out” the national anthem; angering fans across the country. President Trump has called for a national boycott of the league until owners and officials ban player protests during the ‘Star-Spangled Banner.’
