White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders shut-down CNN’s April Ryan during a press briefing this week, slamming the liberal reporter’s “appalling” accusations that the deadly ambush on US forces in Niger was somehow equivalent to the terror attack in Benghazi, Libya.
Sanders was fielding questions from reporters at the daily White House press briefing when CNN correspondent April Ryan asked whether she would comment on democratic representative Frederica Wilson’s claims that the President made “offensive” remarks to the widow of a slain soldier.
“Congresswoman Wilson said that this is the President’s Benghazi,” said Ryan. “What do you say about her comment that he did not know, and the wife –the widow- said that the President did not know his name? He kept saying, ‘Your guy, your guy.'”
“Just because the President said, ‘your guy’ doesn’t mean the President doesn’t know his name,” fired-back Sanders. “As the President stated, the hardest job he has is making calls like that. I think it’s appalling what the Congresswoman has done, in the way that she’s politicized this issue, and the way that she’s trying to make this about something that it isn’t.”
“This is a President who loves our country very much. Who has the greatest level of respect for men and women in the uniform,” said the Press Secretary. “To try and create something from that, that the Congresswoman is doing, is frankly appalling and disgusting.”
