Democratic presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warren touted Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ Green New Deal Thursday; saying the progressive proposal would help prevent future “polar vortexes” from occurring.

“Our children & grandchildren should grow up in a world where they can breathe the air & drink the water – and go outside without risking their lives in extreme temperatures. It’s time to protect our planet & pass a Green New Deal. #PolarVortex2019 https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/31/us/weather-polar-vortex.html …” she tweeted.

Cortez and other left-wing legislators are poised to introduce the Green New Deal in the coming days; calling for a complete transition to renewable energy in 10 years, a universal jobs program, and Medicare for All.

A harsh polar vortex that formed over central Canada this week finally moved towards the Midwest and central United States Tuesday; sending temperatures to record lows and posing serious health dangers for millions of Americans and animals across the region.

“The coldest weather in years will put millions of people and animals throughout the midwestern United States at risk for hypothermia and frostbite to occur in minutes during the final days of January,” writes Accuweather.

“The deep freeze has commenced across the Upper Midwest with an AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperature of 70 degrees below zero Fahrenheit reported at Grand Forks, North Dakota, on Tuesday morning,” adds the weather website.

Chicago is poised to reach a record-setting low of -27 degrees Thursday morning, compared to Priestley Glacier, Antarctica’s “warm” temperature of just 7 degrees below zero.
