BREAKING: Federal Court Says Trump’s Fight Against ‘Sanctuary Cities’ is UNCONSTITUTIONAL

posted by Hannity Staff - 8.01.18

A United States Appeals Court ruled Wednesday that the Trump administration’s efforts to cut-off federal funding from ‘Sanctuary Cities’ was unconstitutional; saying the executive branch can’t withhold money from towns that refuse to follow immigration guidelines.

According to Fox News, the court’s 2-1 decision claimed the President could only cease federal funds through “congressional authorization.”

“Absent congressional authorization, the administration may not redistribute or withhold properly appropriated funds in order to effectuate its own policy goals,” Chief Judge Sidney Thomas wrote for the majority.

The President’s fight against the Sanctuary Cities was held-up in court last November when a District Judge permanently blocked the proposal; claiming Trump “didn’t have the authority” to punish municipalities that bucked his immigration guidelines.

“A federal judge also ruled last Friday that the U.S. Justice Department cannot withhold grants from Chicago because it was providing sanctuary to immigrants,” writes Fox.

CALIFORNIA CHAOS: Federal Judge BLOCKS Trump’s Fight to End ‘Sanctuary Cities’

posted by Hannity Staff - 7.05.18

A federal judge officially blocked the Trump administration’s quest to crackdown on California’s ‘Sanctuary City’ policies Thursday; rebuking the White House’s efforts to stop local municipalities from shielding illegal immigrants from federal agents.

According to Politico, U.S. District Court Judge John Mendez of Sacramento rebuked the President’s attempts to fight the state’s ‘Sanctuary’ policies, stopping the Dept. of Justice’s efforts to retrieve detailed information from California officials regarding undocumented workers.

“While the ruling is a setback for the Trump administration’s attempt to enforce immigration laws in states where leaders favor more liberal policies, Mendez did block parts of one of the disputed California laws, including provisions that banned private employers from voluntarily cooperating with immigration officials and from re-verifying the legal work status of employees,” writes Politico.

“Refusing to help is not the same as impeding,” wrote the judge’s decision. “Federal objectives will always be furthered if states offer to assist federal efforts. A state’s decision not to assist in those activities will always make the federal object more difficult to attain than it would be otherwise. Standing aside does not equate to standing in the way.”

CALIFORNIA CHAOS: One Small Town FIGHTS BACK Against ‘SANCTUARY’ Laws

posted by Hannity Staff - 3.19.18

The second-smallest city in Orange County, California is gearing up for a major legal battle against the state’s outrageous ‘Sanctuary City’ policies; with the local government voting Monday on whether they plan to opt out of the “California Values Act” that prohibits cooperation between local police and federal immigration agents

According to the Orange County Register, the city of Los Alamitos will hold a vote this week to withdraw from the state’s policies that buck federal guidelines regarding illegal immigration; saying the state law “may be in direct conflict with federal laws and the Constitution of the United States.”

“The proposed ordinance might be the first local attempt in California to officially challenge the law, said Kathleen Kim, a Loyola Marymount University law professor who specializes in immigrants’ rights and human trafficking,” writes the Register.

“Everyone holding elective office takes the same oath to uphold the laws to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. It doesn’t say unless the state legislature decides otherwise,” a community activist told the OCR. “I do believe somewhere in our history, we fought a war to prevent states from ignoring the law of the land and preserving the union.”

The city’s decision to fight back against the state’s ‘Sanctuary’ policies comes just days after President Trump toured the region; calling on officials to fund his border wall prototypes and cooperate with ICE agents in cracking down on illegal immigrants residing in the United States.
