President Trump and Congressional leaders have agreed to re-open the federal government for three weeks; paving a path forward for a bipartisan border security panel to craft a comprehensive solution.
“The deal […] wouldn’t provide immediate funding for a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, administration officials said. The deal would fund the government through Feb. 15 and start negotiations between the House and Senate over a full-year bill funding the Homeland Security Department, which oversees the border, aides said,” writes the Wall Street Journal.
“I am very proud to announce we have reached a deal to end the shutdown and reopen the federal government,” said the President at the White House.
The proposed legislation would immediately provide an extension of border security funding at the current level, which features $1.3 billion for protecting the nation’s southern border.

ARMAGEDDON AGAIN? Pelosi Warns Government Could be ‘CLOSED FOREVER’ Over Budget Fight
Likely Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi escalated her war-of-words with the Trump administration Thursday; saying the government could be “closed forever” because of her opposition to the President’s border wall.
Pelosi was speaking with reporters during her weekly press conference at the Capitol when she was asked if she planned to cave to the President’s security demands.
Pelosi predicts the government will stay "closed forever" because she is never going to fund the border wall.

“Let’s hope there won’t be a shutdown of the government. That’s a very bad thing to do, maybe the President doesn’t grasp that. That is very harmful to our country at significant cost,” said Pelosi.
“They still voted against opening up the government [the last time.] Does he want to have government closed forever? What’s this about? I know he doesn’t believe in government,” she added.
BAD VACATION: Trump Slams Top Democrats for ‘Celebrating Shutdown’ in Puerto Rico

“I’ve been here all weekend. A lot of the Democrats were in Puerto Rico celebrating something. I don’t know, maybe they’re celebrating the shutdown. We have a very big crisis on the border. Everybody knows it, they know it,” said the president.
“The Republicans are rock solid, we’ve got to take care of our border. Many of the people that aren’t being paid right now are in total agreement with us,” he added.
