posted by Hannity Staff - 1.29.19

A harsh polar vortex that formed over central Canada this week finally moved towards the Midwest and central United States Tuesday; sending temperatures to record lows and posing serious health dangers for millions of Americans and animals across the region.

“The coldest weather in years will put millions of people and animals throughout the midwestern United States at risk for hypothermia and frostbite to occur in minutes during the final days of January,” writes Accuweather.

“The deep freeze has commenced across the Upper Midwest with an AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperature of 70 degrees below zero Fahrenheit reported at Grand Forks, North Dakota, on Tuesday morning,” adds the weather website.

Chicago is poised to reach a record-setting low of -27 degrees Thursday morning, compared to Priestley Glacier, Antarctica’s “warm” temperature of just 7 degrees below zero.

WINDY CITY: Chicago Braces for COLDEST Temperatures on Record, -27 Degrees

posted by Hannity Staff - 1.28.19

Chicago is bracing for the coldest regional temperatures ever recorded this week; with city officials warning residents the region could see minus 27 degrees as early as Monday evening.

“In Chicago, the coldest temperatures of the year will arrive midweek. After seeing a high around 34 on Monday at O’Hare International Airport, temperatures will drop to near zero before the end of the day, according to the National Weather Service. By Tuesday night, temperatures are expected to take another plunge, to 23 below zero, flirting with Chicago’s coldest temperature ever: minus 27 on Jan. 20, 1985,” writes the Chicago Tribune.

“The lows Tuesday and Wednesday could break records set in 1966. They’ll also feel much worse with wind gusts up to 30 mph, which will make it feel as low as negative 50 degrees, according to the weather service,” adds the author.

Weather experts blame the frigid temperatures on a massive “polar vortex” forming over Canada; saying the phenomenon will hover over the nation’s third-largest city in the days ahead.
