California’s raging wildfires passed a grim milestone Tuesday with 42 people confirmed dead and hundreds remaining missing as first responders continued their struggle to contain the escalating crisis.
“As the fires continued to rage at both ends of the Golden State the death toll around the incinerated northern town of Paradise rose to 42 on Monday night, making it the deadliest wildfire in the state’s history. Two more dead have perished near Malibu in the south of the state,” writes Yahoo News.
The fires are now the deadliest in California history.
Returned to my house in Malibu after evacuating. Heartbreaking time across California. Inspired as ever by the courage, spirit and sacrifice of firefighters. Thank you @LAFD. If you can, support these brave men and women at https://t.co/ei7c7F7cZx. pic.twitter.com/AcBcLtKmDU

Thousands of firefighters continue to battle the blaze Tuesday morning with at least 200 people unaccounted for across the state.
“I’m breathing in the hottest air I’ve ever been in. My throat is bloodied, I’m about to hit the ground but the bottom of my shoes were melting,” said a local nurse. “I put my hand out in front of me and prayed to God, ‘Please, don’t let me die like this.’”

SCHIFF UNGLUED: Adam Schiff Blames California Forest Fires... On TRUMP, CLIMATE CHANGE
Leading Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff took his all-out war against the Trump administration to the next level Tuesday, bizarrely blaming President Trump and “climate change” for the devastating forest fires sweeping California.
Schiff made the baseless accusation on social media Tuesday afternoon, saying the President’s lack of a “science advisor” since taking office was somehow responsible for the naturally occurring phenomenon.
“You’ve been in office for 18 LONG months and you still don’t have a science adviser, so allow me to help. Environmental protections have nothing to do with the wildfires in CA. Climate change does. We’re not going to let you use fires as an excuse to clear-cut our forests,” he tweeted.

Schiff’s comments come just hours after the President said California’s government and environmental policies were making it difficult for authorities to help control the mass blaze.
MAXINE ERUPTS: Rep. Waters Tells President Trump to ‘Keep his Mouth Shut’
Firebrand Congresswoman and anti-Trump crusader Maxine Waters trashed the Commander-in-Chief over the weekend; demanding the President “keep his mouth shut” on issues “that he has no knowledge of.”
Waters was speaking with MSNBC’s Joy Reid when she was asked to comment on the President’s response to the deadly wildfires ravaging her home state of California.
“The President of the United States attempts to talk about things that he has no knowledge of. He doesn’t even understand what goes into fighting a fire, and for him to come out talking about poor management is just another indication that the president is not willing to learn anything,” ranted Waters.
“He does not really care about others, and he’s on the attack all of the time. We wish he would keep his mouth shut. California does not need him to be talking about things that he does not know,” she added.
