CALIFORNIA CHAOS: State Supreme Court BLOCKS DRIVE to Divide California

posted by Hannity Staff - 7.19.18

The California Supreme Court blocked a controversial measure to divide the state into three sections from appearing on the ballot this fall; saying the measure needs further clarification before it can be presented to voters.

The three-state initiative, dubbed Cal-3, was stricken from the ballot Wednesday just nine days after opponents of the legislation filed a lawsuit arguing the measure should instead be decided in 2020.

“The court said it usually allows ballot measures to go to the voters before considering constitutional challenges. But in this case, the six justices said, ‘significant questions regarding the proposition’s validity’ and the ‘potential harm’ of allowing a public vote before those questions are resolved ‘outweighs the potential harm in delaying the proposition to a future election,” writes the San Francisco Chronicle.

Critics of the bill may be looking at the disastrous ‘Brexit’ referendum in the United Kingdom, where voters opted to leave the European Union without being presented with a clear path towards independence.

The resulting chaos may force UK residents to vote a second time, this time being presented with definitive options.

CALIFORNIA CHAOS: Activists Split on How, Where to Divide the State

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.22.18

Just weeks after West Coast activists successfully fought to have a measure on this fall’s ballot on whether to divide California into smaller states, the bill’s proponents are struggling to settle on exactly where and how to carve up the Golden State.

The movement is now split along party lines, with leading Democrats urging each new state to contain at least one major urban area; all but ensuring strong liberal support in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

GOP activists are calling on the state to be divided along rural and urban lines, with one section containing the coastline’s major metropolitan areas and two additional, rural states towards the north and interior.

“With Draper, he makes sure every area has an urbanized zone that will ultimately be blue. You still have the rural-urban thing going on in his formula,” said a GOP supporter. “The rural people will be shafted again.”

CALIFORNIA CHAOS: The White House SUES California Over ‘Sanctuary City’ Nightmare

posted by Hannity Staff - 3.07.18

The Trump administration announced this week its plans to sue the state of California over their flat-out refusal to cooperate with at least three recently-passed immigration statutes; claiming local law enforcement was “interfering” with federal policy regarding undocumented workers, reports Fox News.

“The Department of Justice and the Trump Administration are going to fight these unjust, unfair, and unconstitutional policies,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced Wednesday. “We are fighting to make your jobs safer and to help you reduce crime in America.”

California’s Governor Jerry Brown fired-back at Sessions, saying “At a time of unprecedented political turmoil, Jeff Sessions has come to California to further divide and polarize America. Jeff, these political stunts may be the norm in Washington, but they don’t work here.”

The legal fight between the state and the Trump administration comes just days after the liberal mayor of Oakland warned illegal immigrants of impending ICE sweeps throughout the Bay Area.

US officials believe her “outrageous” announcement allowed nearly 800 illegal immigrants -some with criminal convictions- to evade capture from federal agents.
