CALIFORNIA SCHEMIN’: California Lawmakers Consider TAXING TEXT MESSAGES to Boost Budget

posted by Hannity Staff - 12.12.18

California officials are considering a new tax on text messages to booster their diminishing budget; saying the tariff would go towards helping “low-income residents” have access to cellular phone services.

“California state regulators have been working on a plan to charge mobile phone users a text messaging fee intended to fund programs that make phone service accessible to the low-income residents,” writes Fox News.

“It’s a dumb idea,” said Jim Wunderman, president of the Bay Area Council business group. “This is how conversations take place in this day and age, and it’s almost like saying there should be a tax on the conversations we have.”

Political insiders say the tax could raise more than $44 million per year that could help provide mobile phones and other devices to low-income residents throughout the state.

“To have them charge us something else is just dumb,” said another San Francisco local. “I think it’s very unfair, especially for the people that can barely pay for their cell phone plan already.”

BLUE STATE EXODUS: Residents Flee HIGH TAXES in New York, California

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.06.18

Residents in liberal states throughout the country are ditching high taxes and rising crime rates in search of a better deal; relocating to red states that have lower costs and more business incentives heading into summer 2018.

According to the Wall Street Journal, countless Americans are leaving New York, New Jersey, and California; opting to relocate to more financially-friendly states such as Nevada and Florida following the GOP-sponsored tax cuts.

“I’ve seen a huge increase in the number of clients who want to purchase in Palm Beach to establish residency in Florida,” said the director of luxury sales at Douglas Elliman Real Estate. “And there has been a pickup since Jan. 1.”

“They were finance people in their mid- to late-30s looking in the $700,000 to $1.5 million range for condos on the island,” he added. “That night I saw before my eyes how this tax law is impacting the real-estate industry here.”

BORDER CHAOS: California BANS TROOPS from Helping Border Patrol Agents

posted by Hannity Staff - 4.16.18

The government of California officially rebuked the Trump administration’s decision to deploy the National Guard to the southern border Monday; saying federal plans had their troops working “too closely” with immigration enforcement.

According to the Associated Press, state officials notified federal authorities that deployed soldiers will be prohibited from tackling duties seen as cracking down on illegal immigration: including fixing border patrol vehicles, operating surveillance cameras, and monitoring radio transmissions.

Last week, Governor Jerry Brown confirmed that he was willing to deploy upwards of 400 troops to the United States’ border with Mexico, but added the service members would be prohibited from aiding federal agents in stemming the flow of people across the border.

“This will not be a mission to build a new wall,” Brown wrote. “It will not be a mission to round up women and children or detain people escaping violence and seeking a better life. And the California National Guard will not be enforcing federal immigration laws.”
