Democratic candidate for Governor of Georgia Stacey Abrams is escalating her legal fight against the GOP’s Brian Kemp; refusing to concede the race and “assembling a legal team” to contest the results.
“Democrat Stacey Abrams’s team announced she’s filing litigation in a Georgia county, at a Thursday news conference after Georgia Republican Brian Kemp claimed victory in the governor’s race Wednesday,” writes the Daily Caller.
Abrams’ argument centers around her claim that absentee ballots in specific districts were not delivered to voters in time for the 2018 midterm elections.
“Our point is the one that has been made twice now,” said her lawyer. “To put it very simply all the votes haven’t been counted. How can anybody claim a victory when there are enough votes that have not been counted that could cause a runoff here? … We believe everybody is entitled to have their vote counted.”
Kemp currently leads Abrams 50.3% to 48.7%.

NOT SO FAST: Stacey Abrams Refuses to Concede Georgia's Race for Governor
Democratic candidate for Georgia’s gubernatorial race Stacey Abrams refused to concede her election to the GOP’s Brian Kemp late Tuesday night; saying votes “remain to be counted” despite being down in the polls.
With 99% of the ballots in, Kemp leads Abrams by 50.3% to 48.6%.
“Democracy only works when we work for it, when we fight for it, when we demand it, and apparently today when we stand in line for hours to meet it at the ballot box,” Abrams said at nearly 2 a.m. “I am here today to tell you there are votes remaining to be counted. Voices are waiting to be heard.”
“We have three factors to be considered here: outstanding votes, absentee ballots to be counted, and provisional ballots,” said her campaign manager. “Given those three issues, we believe this is likely heading to a runoff.”
