posted by Hannity Staff - 2.08.19

The new Democratic majority in the House of Representatives is slowly revealing their legislative agenda following the 2018 midterm elections; announcing their plans to implement a series of new taxes on everything from rain to groceries.

“Newly empowered Democrats in Washington and statehouses across the country are flexing their legislative muscle with a host of tax proposals that would affect billionaires and blue collar alike,” writes Fox News.

The new proposals include a series of taxes on wealth, bad weather in New Jersey, guns in California, ammunition and groceries in Connecticut, and more.

NOT A JOKE: New Jersey to Implement ‘RAIN TAX’ on Homeowners, Businesses for Bad Weather

posted by Hannity Staff - 2.05.19

New Jersey -one of the highest taxed states in the USA- is poised to implement a so-called ‘Rain Tax,’ a new measure that would allow the government to tax businesses and homeowners for damages to the region’s “storm water utilities.”

“Save it for a rainy day. Some of your hard-earned dollars may be taken away as the weather turns ugly and rain drops fall on the Garden State. A new bill calls for the creation of local or regional storm water utilities, giving local counties and municipalities the power to collect a tax from properties with large paved surfaces such as parking lots,” writes CBS New York.

“That’s businesses and homeowners,” adds the report. “The bill passed in the Senate and the Assembly and is now headed to Gov. Phil Murphy’s desk.”

The state’s move to tax water echoes similar proposals from California; who plan to tax residents “drinking water” should they consume more than regulated by law.

BLUE STATE BLUES: New Jersey Weighs TAXING TAP WATER to Bolster Budget

posted by Hannity Staff - 7.19.18

New Jersey is poised to follow California’s lead in the coming weeks, with state officials weighing whether they should implement a new tax on tap water to help bolster the state’s bloated budget.

According to Fox News, the proposal is being introduced by State Sen. Bob Smith, who referred to the new tax as a “user fee.” The measure would implement a $0.10 levy on every 1,000 gallons of water used per household.

Smith claims the new tax would impose an average fee of $32 per year.

“The state already charges a public utility franchise tax on water system operators of $0.01 per 1,000 gallons of water delivered to a consumer.  That tax, which went into effect in 1984, is supposed to ‘ensure clean drinking water in New Jersey,’” write Fox.

“Let’s call it for what it is… it’s another tax,” Councilman Peter Brown D-Linden said.
