FLAKE SPEAKS: The Senator Says US Can’t Have ‘Partisan’ Kavanaugh ‘On the Courts’

posted by Hannity Staff - 10.02.18

Sen. Jeff Flake spoke-out Tuesday regarding potential Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh; calling the judge’s congressional testimony “sharp and partisan” and saying that type of behavior “can’t” be had on the highest court in the country.

The GOP Senator was speaking with the Atlantic this week when he weighed-in on Kavanaugh’s stalled confirmation process, saying “We can’t have that on the Court.”

Sen. Flake’s comments come just days after he threw Kavanaugh’s confirmation proceedings into doubt after he and a handful of Democratic lawmakers asked the FBI to re-open its investigation into the potential Justice.

The Atlantic “caught up with Flake briefly as he left the event, and asked if this meant he would not vote to confirm Kavanaugh, even if the FBI cleared him by week’s end. He appeared rattled, and his handlers rushed him into the stairwell. ‘I didn’t say that …’ he stammered. ‘I wasn’t referring to him.’”

BREAKING NOW: Senate Republicans Agree to ‘One Week Delay,' FBI Probe into Kavanaugh

posted by Hannity Staff - 9.28.18

Republican leadership in the Senate agreed Friday to a “one week delay” to give the FBI time to investigate allegations of sexual assault against Judge Brett Kavanaugh dating back to the early 1980s.

The request -initiated by Sen. Jeff Flake- urged Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to delay the full Senate vote just hours after Dr. Christine Ford and Judge Kavanaugh appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

“There’s going to be a supplemental FBI background investigation” Majority Whip Sen. John Cornyn confirmed Friday.

The President signaled a willingness to allow GOP leadership to reschedule the vote earlier Friday after Flake’s announcement, saying “I’m going to rely on all of the people including Senator Grassley, who’s doing a very good job.”

BREAKING: Committee ‘Votes YES’ on Kavanaugh, Flake Calls for 'One Week' FBI Probe

posted by Hannity Staff - 9.28.18

The Senate Judiciary Committee voted to advance Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation process Friday afternoon; ending weeks of speculation after 11th hour revelations and a series of decades-old accusations.

The official tally was along party lines, 11-10.

In a stunning turn of events, multiple Senators -including Sen. Jeff Flake- are calling for a “one week” FBI investigation, “limited in time and scope” to probe  Dr. Ford’s allegations against the potential Supreme Court Justice.

The vote comes just hours after Judge Brett Kavanaugh and Dr. Christine Ford faced a series of questions from the Senate Judiciary Committee over allegations of sexual assault sometime in the early 1980s.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
