California’s outgoing Governor Jerry Brown raised eyebrows with members of his own party this week; publicly admitting that the Democrats have moved too far to the left for “the majority of people.”
Brown was speaking with Capital Public Radio in what could be one of his final interviews in office Tuesday; saying the Republican Party has major opportunities throughout California and the rest of the country with Democrats lurching towards more progressive policies.
“The weakness of the Republican Party has let the Democratic Party, I think, go get further out than I think the majority of people want,” Brown says. “So there’s plenty of opportunity for Republicans if they just pause, look at the world as it really is, and try to come up with something in the tradition of Lincoln and Eisenhower and other great Republicans.”
Democratic Governor-Elect Gavin Newsom will take control of the Golden State in January 2019.

CALIFORNIA DREAMIN': Gov. Jerry Brown Signs Law BANNING Fossil Fuels by 2045
California Governor Jerry Brown stunned residents throughout the Golden State Monday; abruptly singing new legislation that would ban fossil fuel consumption in the region by 2045 and switch the entire electricity grid towards “clean sources.”
“Brown, who has positioned California as a global leader in the effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, approved the measure as he prepares to host a summit in San Francisco of climate change leaders from around the world later this week,” writes ABC.

ALL OUT WAR: Governor Brown Says TRUMP 'AT WAR' with the State of California
California Governor Jerry Brown slammed the Trump administration Wednesday afternoon following Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ address to law enforcement officials in Sacramento; saying the White House has declared “war” against his state.
The Governor was speaking with reporters at the state Capitol when he viciously attacked Sessions’ remarks, claiming it was “unprecedented” that the federal government would “basically go to war” against California.
“This is really unprecedented for the chief law enforcement officer of the United States to come out to California and act more like Fox News than a law enforcement officer. This is a political stunt,” said the liberal leader. “We know the Trump administration is full of liars. They’ve pled guilty already to the special counsel.”
“This is basically going to war against the state of California, the engine of the American economy. It’s not wise, it’s not right, and it will not stand,” Brown added.
“Look, we know the Trump administration is full of liars,” California Gov. Jerry Brown says in response to AG Sessions. “The release records are public, and there's nothing that stops any sheriff who runs the jails to working with ICE.” https://t.co/YVbTYKJhnk pic.twitter.com/5KpGagyB7M

The Governor’s harsh rhetoric was a stark rebuke to the Attorney General’s comments from earlier Wednesday, when the nation’s top law enforcement official re-affirmed that “federal law” is the “supreme law of the land.”
“There is no nullification. There is no secession. Federal law is the supreme law of the land. I would invite any doubters to go to Gettysburg, to the tombstones of John C. Calhoun and Abraham Lincoln. This matter has been settled,” Sessions said.
