White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders weighed-in on President Trump’s 11th hour effort to include border wall funding in the new federal budget; saying the Commander-in-Chief will simply “not back down on this fight.”
Sanders was speaking with reporters on the White House lawn when she was asked to comment on President Trump’s calls for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to “go nuclear” on a potential Democratic filibuster.

“He just wants [McConnell] to be aggressive on this front. I think he would love to see him use the 51-filibuster, I know that’s something he’s pushed Sen. McConnell on in the past. I think he’d like to see that happen if necessary today,” said Sanders.
“The President wants border security and he’s not going to back down on this fight,” she added.
BUDGET SHOWDOWN: Trump Summons GOP Leaders to White House over Border Wall
President Trump summoned congressional Republicans to the White House Thursday afternoon; throwing a major “roadblock” in their efforts to pass a “stopgap” budget deal that doesn’t include funding for his border wall.
“A potential deal on Capitol Hill to avert a government shutdown with a short-term spending measure hit a roadblock Thursday as the White House said President Trump ‘does not want to go further’ with anything that does not include sought-after funding for border security,” writes Fox News.
“The president is having a meeting with Republican House members at noon today,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement. “At this moment, the president does not want to go further without border security, which includes steel slats or a wall. The president is continuing to weigh his options.”
Congress must pass a budget by Friday evening or the government will immediately “shutdown” until an agreement could be reached.

CNN SHUTDOWN: Huckabee Sanders SILENCES Jim Acosta on LIVE TV
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders totally silenced CNN correspondent Jim Acosta during her daily briefing Monday; prompting the liberal reporter to complain on camera over his networks treatment by the Trump administration.
The Press Secretary was wrapping up her press briefing this week when she faced a last-minute flurry of questions; saying “We’re continuing to focus on the things that President Trump campaigned on. We’re excited about what we’ve done and where we’re going.”
Sanders left the podium and headed for the exits when Acosta pounced, saying “Sarah, can I ask a question?”
“Sarah, that’s the third briefing you’ve not taken a question from CNN. Do you expect the Justice Department to enforce all subpoenas, Sarah?” he continued to ask.
Acosta later complained on social media, writing “Third press briefing in a row that @PressSec did not take a question from CNN. #courage.”
