MACRON SURRENDERS: France Moves to Permanently ‘Abandon’ Climate Tax After Protests

posted by Hannity Staff - 12.05.18

French President Emmanuel Macron officially “abandoned” his proposed “fuel tax” Wednesday; with government officials confirming the leader rescinded the tariff after widespread protests.

His Prime Minister told reporters the “tax is now abandoned,” adding the administration is “ready for dialogue” to avoid future violence surrounding the policy.

“One of the activists leading France’s protest movement says that he fears more deaths if Saturday’s demonstration goes ahead, and called for President Emmanuel Macron to speak out and bring calm,” writes ABC News. “French President Emmanuel Macron has scrapped a fuel tax rise amid fears of new violence, after weeks of nationwide protests and the worst rioting in Paris in decades.”

“If not there will be chaos,” added another protester before learning of Macron’s reversal.

BAD TIMING: Gore Launches 24-Hour ‘Climate Tax’ Campaign as France REVOLTS Against ‘Climate Tax’

posted by Hannity Staff - 12.04.18

Former Vice President and climate-change crusader Al Gore kicked off his 24-hour ‘reality’ broadcast promoting a global ‘climate tax’ this week; perfectly coinciding with the worst riots France has seen in over 50 years over Emmanuel Macron’s proposed ‘climate tax.’

“All of it is felt most keenly by the world’s most disadvantaged people,” said Gore Tuesday, “It’s up to each and everyone of us now to demand that our leaders do more.”

“A dramatic shift is underway, but it must be accelerated by new policies,” Gore added.

French President Emmanuel Macron partially caved to the “Yellow Vest” protesters this week; announcing a six-month suspension of his so-called ‘fuel tax’ as gasoline supplies dwindle throughout the country.

“Anti-government protesters gained new allies Monday as French paramedics and students joined ongoing rallies while the prime minister met with political rivals in a bid to ease the anger following riots that rocked Paris,” writes the Associated Press.

“On Saturday, more than 130 people were injured and 412 arrested in the French capital amid one of the worst waves of unrest in the country in recent years. Police responded with tear gas and water cannons, closing down dozens of streets and subway stations to contain the riot,” adds the AP.

The “Yellow Vest” movement -named after the bright jackets worn by emergency workers and construction crews across France- rocked Paris over the weekend; injuring more than 100 and leading to the arrests of 400 individuals.
