Former New York City Mayor and Democratic billionaire Mike Bloomberg opened-up about his recent decision to abandon his 2020 run for the White House; blasting liberal candidates for their recent “apology tour.”
“I just couldn’t see a path to where I could get the nomination,” said Bloomberg Thursday at an event in New York City. “It’s just not going to happen on a national level for somebody like me starting where I am unless I was willing to change all my views and go on what CNN called ‘an apology tour.’”
“Joe Biden went out and apologized for being male, over 50, white,” he added. “He apologized for the one piece of legislation which is actually a pretty good anti-crime bill, which if the liberals ever read it, most of the things they like would be in that bill. They should have loved that. But they didn’t even bother to read it. You’re anti-crime, you must be anti-populist.”
Bloomberg was referring to Biden’s recent attempt to downplay his “moderate” history and cast himself as a “progressive candidate” heading into the 2020 primary season.

“At key points in U.S. history, one of the two parties has served as a bulwark against those who threaten our Constitution,” posted Bloomberg on social media.
“Two years ago at the Democratic Convention, I warned of those threats. Today, I have re-registered as a Democrat – I had been a member for most of my life – because we need Democrats to provide the checks and balance our nation so badly needs,” he added.
Bloomberg’s re-registration with the Democratic Party sets the stage for a potential showdown with fellow NYC billionaire businessman Donald Trump in just two years.
BREAKING NOW: Mike Bloomberg Will Not Run for the White House in 2020
Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg confirmed Tuesday afternoon that he will not run for the White House in 2020; ending months of speculation on whether the billionaire businessman would take on President Trump in the coming months.
“Michael R. Bloomberg, the former New York City mayor who joined the Democratic Party last year to crusade against President Trump, has decided not to challenge Mr. Trump as a candidate in the 2020 election,” reports the New York Times.
“Rather than entering the race himself, Mr. Bloomberg intends to plow his political energy and immense personal fortune into other efforts to thwart Mr. Trump and his agenda, including an initiative aimed at rapidly accelerating the country’s transition to renewable energy,” adds the article.
