MORE ON MOORE: Roy Moore FILES LAWSUIT to Block Alabama Senate Results

posted by Hannity Staff - 12.28.17

Attorneys for GOP Alabama Senate hopeful Roy Moore filed a last-minute lawsuit Thursday morning, attempting to block the state from certifying Democrat Doug Jones surprise victory over allegations of widespread “voter fraud” throughout the state.

Judge Moore lost the December 12th special election by approximately 20,000 votes, a margin of 1.5 percent, but has so far refused to concede the race to fill the seat left vacant by Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

“This is not a Republican or Democrat issue as election integrity should matter to everyone,” said a statement from Moore’s office, citing “confirmed election fraud” in Jefferson County, the state’s most populated region.

The court documents, spanning dozens of pages, claims the turnout in the county was “suspiciously high” and alleges that voters were “intimidated” into voting for Doug Jones following weeks of sexual assault allegations.

The Moore campaign was rocked just weeks before the December special election, when multiple women came forward and accused the judge of inappropriate sexual relationships while the women were teenagers nearly 40 years ago.

Speaking with CNN, Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill said Moore’s lawsuit will not stop him from certifying the election results.

“Will this affect anything?” said Merrill. “The short answer to that is no.”

FINAL STRETCH: Roy Moore Arrives at Polling Station on HORSEBACK

GOP Senate hopeful Roy Moore arrived in style at his local polling station on Tuesday, showing up on horseback to vote for himself in his hotly-contested special election against Democrat Doug Jones.

Video of Moore’s arrival surfaced on social media Tuesday, showing the Alabama judge and his wife riding into Gallant, Alabama to cast their crucial vote.

This isn’t the first time Moore rode his horse –reportedly named ‘Sassy’- to his polling station.

The judge also rode horseback to cast his vote during his GOP primary challenge against sitting Alabama Senator Luther Strange.

The embattled nominee is facing a tough challenge from Democrat Doug Jones after weeks of accusations of sexual misconduct have plagued Moore’s campaign. Last month, the GOP hopeful was accused of pursuing inappropriate sexual relationships with multiple women when they were teenagers nearly 40 years ago.

Voters in Alabama head to the polls December 12th to decide which candidate will go on to fill the seat left vacant by Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The race made national headlines last month when multiple women came forward and accused Moore of inappropriate sexual behavior nearly 40 years ago while the women were teenagers.

Recent polling shows Moore ahead by five-points, with Democrat Doug Jones close behind in second place.
